The National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science (NCCOS) and the Gulf of Mexico Coastal Ocean Observing System Regional Association (GCOOS-RA) are pleased to announce a funding opportunity for projects assessing the socioeconomic impacts of the 2017-2018 Florida Red Tide and to improve assessments of future blooms.

A required Letter of Intent (LOI) should be sent to info@gcoos.org, and must be received by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time, on August 15, 2019. Proposals will not be accepted if an LOI was not submitted by the due date and time.

Full applications must be received by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on September 13, 2019. Electronic submissions received after the deadline will not be considered. Paper submissions will not be accepted.

Investigators are advised to submit full applications well in advance of the deadline as a precaution against unanticipated delays.

GCOOS anticipates funding one to two projects at approximately $100,000 to $140,000 per year, for a maximum duration of two years. GCOOS may consider a single, holistic proposal that would fund up to $250,000 for one year. Please note that in instances where potential PIs would like to request such a proposal, they must receive approval from GCOOS prior to submission.

For more information and details, please read the full funding opportunity here.
