David Moe Nelson and Ken Buja were part of an interagency NFHAP (National Fish Habitat Assessment Program) team (Michigan State University and NOAA) that recently completed a study published by the National Fish Habitat Action Plan (NFHAP) in a report titled, Through a Fish’s Eye: The Status of Fish Habitats In The United States 2010.
The report summarizes the results of an unprecedented, nationwide assessment of the human effects on fish habitat in watersheds, rivers and estuaries of the United States. In addition, the team provided data for a map and data web tool developed by the U.S. Geological Survey’s Biological Informatics Program.
The interagency NFHAP Assessment team was honored for the Report by the National Fish Habitat Board, for “Scientific Achievement in support of Fish Habitat Conservation.” The honor was presented at the Fourth Annual National Fish Habitat Awards ceremony was held on April 15, 2011 at Fletcher’s Boathouse on the tidal Potomac River in Washington, DC.
