Chung is the lead biologist in the Ecotoxicology Branch at NCCOS Charleston Lab. She is responsible for coordinating, designing, and conducting acute and chronic bioassays that utilize different exposure methods in the determination of bio-effects on vertebrate/invertebrate test organisms. She also serves as the lab manager for the toxicology program.
Chung has been with the Ecotoxicology Branch since 1994. She has worked and acquired skills in all three programs (toxicology, microbiology and physiology, and chemical contaminants) within the Branch. She has streamlined our toxicity testing methods and recently trained in environmental health and safety management. She has assisted in various collaborative research efforts with other government and state partners over the last 25 years. She also serves as adjunct faculty in the Graduate Program in Marine Biology at the College of Charleston.
Chung received her Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Science from the University of South Carolina in 1994 and her Master of Science in Marine Biology from the University of Charleston in 1999.
