Local scientist wins presidential award - News-Times: News

Dr. James Morris Jr.'s work on lionfish has earned him the recognition of his employers, his scientific peers and now the federal government.

Dr. Morris, who works at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration lab on Pivers Island, was named on Monday as one of the recipients of the 2010 Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists And Engineers.

This award is the highest honor given by the federal government to outstanding scientists and engineers in the early stages of their careers.
