Workshop helps lead environmental scientists through measuring paralytic shellfish toxins

However, with the threat of harmful algal bloom toxins that can accumulate in shellfish, health risks from consuming contaminated shellfish is a concern. NCCOS scientists along with Chugach Regional Resources Commission and Ocean and Earth Environmental Services recently conducted a week-long training and capacity development workshop in Seward, AK to lead environmental scientists through measuring paralytic shellfish toxins to ensure shellfish are safe to eat.
