How do our scientists develop #Vibrio forecast models?

How do our scientists develop Vibrio forecast models? Since oysters are filter feeders, they filter bacteria and toxins from their surrounding water and retain them in their tissues. NCCOS Knauss Fellow demonstrates collecting an oyster sample using an oyster tong. Scientists at our Cooperative Oxford Lab then test these samples for Vibrio bacteria. These data are then compared to environmental conditions to create the predictive models: https://products.coastalscience.noaa.gov/vibrioforecast/
