Using outputs from NCCOS data models, BOEM was able to select two options for offshore wind energy auctions in the Gulf of Mexico.

More advancements toward clean energy! BOEM recently conducted the first-ever offshore wind energy auction for the Gulf Of Mexico. Our staff contributed to this effort by developing a model that identified optimal locations for wind energy development while minimizing conflicts with other ocean uses and the environment.
