Bivalves are helping scientists determine pollution in the Milwaukee Estuary

How polluted is the waterway? Bivalves answer that question. NCCOS and NOAA's Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory scientists are analyzing quagga mussels for pharmaceutical, pesticide, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon contaminants in the Milwaukee Estuary and its tributaries.
