Join our restoration team onboard the R/V Point Sur to learn more about the deep sea corals they’re studying

promotional graphic that reads “Gulf Restoration Live! The Secret Lives of Deep Sea Corals”Compared to their shallow-water cousins, deep-sea corals are known for their slow growth and long life spans. As a result, it can take multiple visits over many years to begin to fully understand the complexities of deep-sea corals. Scientists have been working in the Gulf for decades to document these habitats, and by comparing images and data over time, they can better understand how we can restore them after the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

Join our restoration team onboard the R/V Point Sur to learn more about the corals they’ll be revisiting on this mission and what they’re hoping to learn! Join the conversation on Thursday, September 11 at 3pm EDT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jS3X5nHOYyk
