NOAA’s Southeast Fisheries Science Center provides the scientific advice and data needed to effectively manage the living resources of the Southeast Region and Atlantic high seas.
The Southeastern United States is home to the largest concentration of saltwater recreational fishing in America, and the second-largest commercial fishery by volume. In addition, the variety of protected species – including smalltooth sawfish, North Atlantic right whales, elkhorn corals, and more – creates unique opportunities and challenges for our region. We strive to help protected marine species survive and recover for future generations in the waters of the Southeast United States.
NOAA Fisheries’ scientific surveys in the Southeast support stock assessments for approximately 40 stocks in the Gulf of Mexico, U.S. Caribbean, South Atlantic, and Atlantic high seas. The data we collect and analyze supports management advice to three regional fishery management councils, two interstate marine fisheries commissions, and the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas.
Together, NOAA’s Southeast Fisheries Science Center and Southeast Regional Office work to protect our marine life and their habitat, offering sound science to help inform management decisions in an ever-changing environment.
We are seeking a graphic designer to develop data visualizations, infographics, and social media content for the web and social media platforms. The successful candidate will work closely with our communications team to draft content based on regional priorities.
