Scientists from NOAA, University of Georgia, and Georgia Aquarium joined forces aboard NOAA Ship Nancy Foster to support the Gray’s Reef National Marine Sanctuary Southeast Regional Ecosystem Assessment. The multi-disciplinary project is a collaborative research initiative focused on characterizing high-priority offshore habitats along the Southeast U.S. continental shelf. In between species counts and habitat mapping, NCCOS’ Sean Morton was able to collect macroalgae samples for processing and toxin analysis by the #HarmfulAlgalBloom team at Hollings Marine Lab.
