We are providing scientific support to NOAA’s Office of Response and Restoration in response to discharging oil and natural gas into marsh and surrounding waters near Garden Island Bay, Louisiana (Well #59). Passive samplers – silicone bands that absorb oil compounds from the water column – were deployed at the site in mid-May. These water column samples will be analyzed for oil compounds by #NCCOS, which will provide information on the level of exposure to oil in the impacted area.
