On March 26-28, 2012, representatives from theNational Ocean Service and National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science attended the Sixth NOAA Education and Science Forum hosted by the Environmental Cooperative Science Center (ECSC) at Florida A&M University and sponsored by NOAA.
Nearly 1,000 students, faculty, federal scientists, private industry and the general public convened to view and present research on atmospheric, oceanic and environmental sciences, engineering, and technology that support NOAA’s mission.
The forum is part of NOAA’s continuing effort to increase the number of scientists, engineers, and mathematicians, particularly from underrepresented communities.The focus of the forum was on expanding academic training in NOAA-mission science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines, through partnership activities.
The forum is held every two years at one of NOAA’s five Cooperative Science Centers.
