Congratulations to National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science (NCCOS) Senior Application Developer, Ken Buja for receiving third place as an Elite Level in the 2025 Esri Community Contest.

With over 30 years of experience in creating geospatial applications, Mr. Buja has been a strong contributor to the Esri Community – an online discussion forum of over 400,000 members who use the platform for exchanging ideas and solving problems about geospatial technology – for the past 15 years. Throughout 2025, Mr. Buja provided 87 solutions to fellow community members, the third highest of any Community member. Mr. Buja provided guidance to other Community members, including using code to symbolize data, create summary tables, and add photos and videos to maps. He was then able to use the knowledge gained from researching these solutions to improve NCCOS applications and maps.

Mr. Buja’s technical geospatial knowledge and skills within Esri platforms has built his reputation as an expert within the field and his willingness to share that information and guidance with his peers has lifted him to MVP status within the Esri Community. Since 2010, Mr. Buja has provided nearly 1,000 solutions, contributing to the success of others within the larger Esri Community.
