NCCOS works closely with coastal managers, tribes, and industry partners on planning coastal and offshore aquaculture operations

Graphic shows NOAA offices involved in the aquaculture program: Fisheries Office of Aquaculture, National Ocean Service NCCOS, And Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research National Sea Grant College Program. NCCOS works closely with coastal managers, tribes, and industry partners to navigate the complexities of planning coastal and offshore aquaculture operations. By using the best available science and community engagement, NCCOS is able to locate areas with the highest potential to support pioneering ocean industries while protecting the surrounding ecosystem and minimizing conflict with other ocean users.
