Joint Hypoxia Task Force/Gulf of Mexico Alliance Meeting

Published on: 08/25/2011

The hypoxic zone located off the coast of Louisiana and Texas forms each summer and threatens valuable commercial and recreational Gulf fisheries. Seeking solutions to reduce the size of the dead zone, NCCOS leadership is highlighted at the first joint meeting of the Gulf of Mexico Alliance and Mississippi River Gulf of Mexico Watershed Nutrient Task Force in New Orleans, August 2-4, 2011.

NCCOS-sponsored research is predicting and measuring the 2011 dead zone through the Gulf of Mexico Ecosystems & Hypoxia Assessment Program (NGOMEX).
