The Global Partnership on Nutrient Management (GPNM), a group comprised of a variety of agencies and governments, promotes nutrient management for food safety and natural resource conservation. Representatives from the National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science (NCCOS) and NOS' International Program Office (IPO), two groups with experience related to nutrient management and the effects of nutrients in coastal waters, participated in a meeting that addressed the GPNM work plan for 2013 to 2016, the status of various demonstration projects, development of a 'nutrient use efficiency indicator,' the involvement of the consumption and retail sectors, policy reform and advocacy, and the development of a toolbox that governments can use for decision-making.

The meeting was held May 14 at USDA Headquarters in Washington DC. For additional context, see: ( http://oceanservice.noaa.gov/aaweekly/ ). For more information, contact Tony Pait ( Tony.Pait@noaa.gov ).
