Our scientists are at sea collecting data to create a cyst density map, which will inform the annual Gulf of Maine harmful algal bloom forecast. Studies show that the abundance of A. catenella resting cysts is a first-order predictor of the magnitude of the bloom in the upcoming spring/summer.
