NCCOS spatial ecologists have extensive expertise in analyzing and interpreting seafloor mapping data to characterize the seafloor and potential distribution of benthic habitats. This expertise was recently used to support a South Atlantic Fishery Management Council decision process in their effort to potentially establish a new shrimp fishery access area within the Atlantic Ocean. https://coastalscience.noaa.gov/news/providing-mapping-guidance-and-data-analysis-for-a-proposed-shrimp-fishery-access-area/
