How many people visit Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary throughout the year?
NCCOS social scientists recently installed vehicle counters at the New Presque Isle Lighthouse and Range Light Beach to help answer that question. The counters will collect hourly data for at least two years, helping sanctuary managers understand seasonal visitation patterns, plan infrastructure improvements, support recreational access, protect natural resources, and improve visitor experiences.
