Commercial fishermen on the Northeast Continental Shelf are now collecting valuable data such as bottom temperatures that is automatically telemetered to NOAA servers. As new vessels are fitted with equipment each month, the volume of data is growing rapidly and needs to be processed, visualized, documented, archived, and served. The primary purpose of the data is to tune and validate a set of numerical ocean models running in both hindcast and forecast modes. So, the project involves a significant amount of programming (primarily Python), data management, and development of web applications.
