Summary / Description

From marine mammal strandings to the management of the nation’s largest fisheries, do you have the creative spark to help us communicate the wonder and complexity of the Alaska Region? The NOAA Fisheries Alaska Regional Office is seeking a driven Communications Intern to develop engaging and dynamic communications products. During this internship, you will work with the communications team to create visual and written content for digital and print products. The primary project will focus on developing outreach materials to support the Alaska Marine Mammal Stranding Network, including social media campaigns, marketing materials, and communication templates. You will also have opportunities to write web stories and create social media, infographics, and web content for stranding events, sustainable fisheries, and other trending topics.

Skills Required

Basic proficiency in design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite, etc.).

Writing skills with the ability to adapt for different audiences and translate complex science information.

Strong creative skills and interest in communications, journalism, graphic design, marine mammals, fisheries management.
