Sanctuary Advisory Council and Staff Laud NCCOS Characterization of Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary for Its Value to Management and Research

Scientists from the National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science received an enthusiastic response for their work towards improving regional resource management, providing a baseline for future research and monitoring, and supporting Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary’s management plan review.” An Ecological Characterization of the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary Region” was presented to the sanctuary’s 21-member Advisory Council and staff in Boston on October 10. The assessment provides data, models, maps, and analyses on the distribution of marine flora, fauna, contaminants, and physical oceanography in the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary and in the broader Gulf of Maine region.
